Big Mould Problem - New House

Read through various posts about mould and condensation , but wonder can anyone offer advice.

Moved into our new built bungalow 4 years ago and spotted dampness/mould in exterior wall of bedroom shortly afterwards. Fobbed off by builder and given de-humidifyer for a few weeks. Told us house was drying out etc....

Ensuite weas out of action for about a year (another long story with buider) and we have vent in room and air it regularly and never dry clothes in there - as we thought it might have been condensation.

Few weeks ago we discover mould from floor to ceiling and at least 5 foot along the wall. Had to throw out clothes, shoes etc from wardrobe it was so bad. (Wardrobes are floor to ceiling but a few incehs off of the wall) there is a bit of a tide mark along the bottom corner.

Small mould patches appeared in other ceiling corners around house and we fitted an extra radiator in bay window of living room as had a problem there too.
Very worried its an insulation problem. Other neighbours have had similar problems, but not quite as bad.
Homebond won't help as its more than 2 years. Builder has vanished and never completed snag - so no joy there.
Should we get an engineer to assess it before having work carried out? Does insurance cover anything?
Any advice - much appreciated. Not sure where to start and worried about breathing in something nasty!

I thought Homebond guaranteed for ten years or is that just the actual structure

The wardrobe problem sounds like rising damp. But the higher up mould on the exterior wall could be caused by penetrating damp. Is this mould near a window by any chance, or is there a downpipe on the outside of the wall that might be leaking? Are your gutters unclogged and working properly? Have you gotten up in the attic on a wet day and looked for a leak in the roof? Could possibly be any of these.

Just covers serious structural flaws that the builder doesn't put right. Unless the probably can be attributed to such flaws then they won't be interested.

As builders try to make dwellings more airtight (and thus more energy efficient), they are running into problems with mould due to inadequate ventilation.
Was at a homebond seminar recently where they said this was becoming one of the most frequent complaints received.
