Big increase in prsi in Jan '09

Hi,

my prsi went up by approx. €250 in jan compared to Dec '08 - big shock!

i'm on €70k basic with some expenses and a bonus if i'm lucky!

I know there are fluctuations in what you pay monthly as the year goes on.

How do I work out what my monthly contribution should be so that I know it's accurate and not a mistake by payroll?
 
Because 6% PRSI is only paid up to on a cap of salary ( up to €50k or something?) - so for November and December you would probably have only be paying 2% PRSI, but now you are paying the full wack again as its a new tax year. Works this way every year.

it's a bloody complicated tax if u ask me!
