Hi there, managed this morning to book relatively cheap return flights with Ryanair to Biarritz arriving at 1440 on this Friday and departing at 1550 on Sunday.
Havent booked any accomodation yet but i can get well reviewed hotels
Oxo,Karitza Biarritz,George V1 for around €75 per night. Anyone on here got any personal recommendations?
Never been to the SW before, with limited time what should i do/miss?
Have read on here of the beauty of SJDL, should i afford it it's own visit sometime later or is it worth stealing down there? Wont have a car so will be reliant on public transport. Most hotels dont seem to have airport shuttle, so is taxi or public transport the best way into town? Sorry for all the questions, getting excited now:) Any feedback welcome.GRMA.

Have been there a good few times since 2004 and always stayed in Le Grand Large - great spot with lovely views out to sea or over the town.

Costs €84 per night for a studio, well worth it, you have a kitchenette in the studio where you can bring back grub from the local boulangeries or the market for breakfast and see outside on the balcony taking it easy. Very clean place, spotless in fact, nice bathroom & separate WC. Loads of elderly French seem to stay there so you wont have any no late night sessions in the hotel bar!

Even though it will be November, there should still be a good few restaurants open, offering decent value 3 course meals - quite a few near the church square or try The Players down town near the casino.

Its a bit awkward to get to SJDL, we once did get a direct bus from near the tourist office but it doesnt seem to run nowadays, you need to get a bus from the airport, takes about 45 mins. It is a beautiful town, lots of narrow streets with places to eat and drink, will be quiet enough now.

You can get the No. 14 bus into Biarritz town centre (approx. 15 mins journey), costs €1 or a taxi costs approx. €12-15.

Will try and dig out a few good restaurants for you to head to and post them tomorrow. Enjoy your trip, great spot for a weekend.

Just remembered a great restaurant - La Goulue - near Le Jardin Public. Plenty of locals seemed to eat there which is always a good sign. Its only 2 mins walk from the main square (Place Clemenceau).

Thanks JUMP UP i'd already booked the hotel by the time you posted but i'll have a look at the restaurant for sure. Think i'll have to get a cab on friday as i hear it's a holiday and buses very infrequent. OB home to Toulouse on Saturday so i'll see if i can get a ticket for that.Ta.
