Best Websites for finding free puppies?

Hi all

Would appreciate if anyone could let me know the best websites for finding free puppies looking for good homes?

Most websites I have come accross mainly are listing puppies for sale i.e pure breeds.

Limerick animal welfare has a web site.

Try www.irishdogs.ie they often have free puppies on offer to a good home. Have you considered some of the animal rescue sites e.g. www.lasthope.ie

A lot of the animal rescue centres have their own websites where you can have a look.

Aoileen - have you considered an older dog. Most shelters have plenty of older dogs looking for home. You can avoid much of the toilet training etc of a pup and they still have plenty of healthy years ahead of them

Yes we have considered an older dog. However we want to get a dog and cat and have been advised by the vet that we should get a puppy and kitten in order for them to grow up together and get along.

Our local SPCA gives details with dogs looking for homes on whether or not the dogs are cat friendly etc...

I wouldn't be overly worried about them getting along. We introduced a kitten to our dog who have been king of the castle for many years. He had no choice but to tolerate her and they eventually got on well. Cats are very strong minded and won't take any gof from anyone. When our dog died and we got another we made sure the cat was in the house when the new dog was introduced so he accepted her as part of the package. If anything she now rules the roost and has been known to give him the odd slap if he looks to move her from his bed. Most shelters will advise if a dog gets on with cats
