Best Value Sat Nav

Not sure if this belongs here or in Car related issues...?

Anyway, a friend of mine would like to buy Sat Nav as a birthday present for her father and she's shopped around a bit but was wondering if anyone had any tips on the best value available as it's quite an expensive purchase?

Woould recommend Magellan Roadmate series (stocked by Halfords). I have used this system in U.S. & Canada as well as in Ireland, U.K. & France. The model I have is the 700 & comes with pre installed software for all of Europe. It cost around 450 Euro. This model was originally developed by Hertz for their hire fleet in U.S, about 5 years ago where I first discovered it. Absolutely reliable if not the cheapest. I wouldn't be without it in any unfamiliar area. Halford's will give you a demo. before you buy.
