Best value on photo developing

I have a heap(technical term for in excess of 20) of films that I need to get developed.They are a mixture of 24 and 36s.
Can anyone recommend the cheapest place to get them done?
 
I have been pricing around for the processing prices.
The best that I can see is with Post photo(Spectra+An post linkup).
They charge 6.60 for 24 films and 7.60 for 36 films to be processed(and you get a free film)
As anybody used this service.Does this price include delivery,are 7 x 5's more expensive.
I'm going to head to the post office tomorrow and get more details.
I also notice doubleprint offer a similar service, but charge 5.99 for 24 and 7.99 for 36(these are 6 x 4 and includes delivery, free film also).Its 2 euro extra for 7 x 5 prints.
 
Savy, I typed up a reply to this but when I hit the Add Reply button the ezboard server returned an error, my reply was lost, and I didn't have time to go back and type it up again... (another eZboard annoyance!)

I was going to say that the Spectra Post Photo was probably the cheapest deal for this - presuming you want 4"x6" prints of every single photo? (10x24 exp and 10x36exp = 600 prints!) Plus you'll end up with 20x24 exp rolls of Spectra's own brand 35mm film (so-so quality, usually 100 or 200ASA, fine for snaps in good light or with a flash...) And yes, that price includes posting to your front door, which is handy. Just pick up the envelopes at any Post Office (4 films per envelope, and you can pay by cheque or credit card, I think).

But if (as I suspect?) you're posting off a batch of films that have been lying in a drawer for ages and you're no longer even sure what's on them, it might just be worth your while checking with a local lab for a 'job lot' price to develop them all and just print you a contact sheet from each film? Then just do the maths and figure out which is the better deal for you...

Years ago, I used to use a small lab on Chelmsford Road in Ranelagh (100m down from the Gem motorbike shop), but (a) I can't for the life of me remember their name! :eek: and (b) I don't know how convenient Ranelagh would be for you. But there must be a lot of similar outfits you could look up in the Yellow pages...

I had forgotten about An Post's photo service - my mum used to use it years ago when it was first introduced - it's very convenient.

On a related note does anyone know where I would be able to bring some old slides and get photos developed from them? I have quite a few of these (probably a few hundred) from my parents' house and although I have the projector screen I don't actually have a projector. I was thinking of getting them put onto photos, or better yet, onto a CD and then just choose which ones to get developed. I asked in one photo shop on Talbot Street (Spectra, I think) and they thought that only very specialised places would be able to do this. I know my sister was able to get a few done in her local photo shop in France so thought it was a relatively simple thing.

Is that place in Ranelagh still there? That would be handy enough for me.

It's not too complicated to scan slides for use digitally - most places should support it. They just need to have a slide scanner and I don't think they are too expensive.

Doubleprint are not answering the phone! Anyone know anything about them. 1800556539 Also their uk number is not being answered!
 
Think that Leary's is gone, if it's the little place up from Appian Way heading towards Ranelagh then it has closed down a few years ago.
