Best to book a Spanish Hotel at the last minute?

Hi all, I'm spending 4 days in Spain mid-Sept and was hoping to get a good deal on a Hotel in Fuengirola or nearby. Any time I've gone to Spain or Portugal I've heard about incredible deals people have got for the same accomodation I am in - when I've paid what seems to be the usual rate. Does anyone have any tips or opinions - is it better to wait till the last minute so that Hotels are trying to sell off unbooked rooms? I'm just afraid if I do wait until then that there will be nothing decent left, or I'll have to pay over the odds. Thanks!

Book any hotel today which has a cancellation policy that allows you to cancel up to 4pm local time on day of arrival. That guarantees you a bed.

On the day before you are due to fly, phone 2 or 3 places for a last minute price or check their sites. Phoning the hotel direct is the best although it costs a bit to make the call.

Good luck.
