Best place for savings ?

OK, the question on everyones (everyone with a few quid squirreled away anyhoo) lips at the mo.

Where is the safest place to have my money?

Euro ? Hhmmm, maybe in a European bank like CA,Rabo, or Cetelem.
USDollar ? May strengthen and increase your value.
Yuan ? Like USD, but more likely to increase ?
Swiss Francs ? No idea.
Scandinavian ? No idea.
Mattress bank ?

Or take it out now and buy tinned goods and a shotgun ?

In my opinion among all the banks in Ireland I would put Rabo on top followed by NR.

You also need to look at the deposit protection scheme, i.e. how much you are talking about in terms of protection.

Some people moved their money abroad (like me), some others moved them to safer rabo, NR, etc.
