I have just sold a house and expect a significant gain which i need to lodge.
What is the best savings option for me to lodge in.
I would like to have the option of where I can withdraw lump sums if required without penalties.

Forgot to add an important point. I am a non-resident as I am located on teh continent.
From what I have seen, First Active e-saving account seems to be a good option

Do you need to keep the money here? If so why? Are there not other options available to you where you reside? What about cross jurisdictional tax issues?

If you look at the Financial Best Buys forum lists of demand and term lump sum and regular saver accounts on offer then you can easily see which are best from the point of view of the rate on offer and the terms conditions that apply. Not sure which of these accounts are available to non residents.
