if he is marrying italian, then no harm doing smaller speech to introduce italians to this custom of this, but also find out about any italian customs and incorporate as well.
Tou will have to make a speech, practice and you will be fine. Do not practice with groom or anybody that will be there. you will want them to hear it the first time on the day.
