best lawn weed treatment?

The weeds have gone mad and taken over the lawn. It gets cut weekly which keeps it neat but doesn't look great. I mostly would like to get rid of the thistles, daisys and clover and any other lurkers. It's 0.5 acre and manual weeding isn't working so far due to quantity. Anyone advise on best methods for treating a large area without killing of the grass?

You could try a bag or 2 of "feed and weed". You just spread it out (its like granules) by hand. Costs about 25 quid per bag in builders merchants or garden centers

If there are individual weeds rather than a general infestation then pour a little salt on them and it will kill them off. When you get it down to small numbers pulling them out manually is as good as anything.

I generally hand pick the weeds but I have also found Verdone useful.
