Best engine oil for 2000 mondeo

I will shortly be changing the engine oil in my 2000 Ford Mondeo. The Haynes manual recommends any of the following oils: 5W30, 5W40, 10W30 or 10W40.
Has anyone any preferences?

It's a mark II (1996-2000) 2.0 petrol. I'm not sure what the official recommendation is. As far as I know the Haynes recommendations are based on the official guidelines.

It depends on the mileage? Higher the mileage the more viscosity.Lower mileage less viscosity
