I havent needed to see it in a while but cant find it now. Is the best buys link still around?

Im looking for cheapest bank loan for a friend, figure will probably be around the 5k mark over 3 maybe 5 years depending on rate.

Caveat - it has not been updated in a while now and is not being actively updated. We need to find a new way to publish best buys information now that I no longer get updates on this one.

if its any use to someone, a quick poll of the online sites gave the following repayment figures on 8000 over 3 years. variable rate, unprotected loan.

boi : 255e
aib : 251e
ulster bank : 258e
permanent tsb 252e
tesco : 271, this was the only figure they gave but (I think) this has payment protection built in, ring them to see if they'll do it cheaper. BOI do theirs for 271 protected so it'll probably be the same as theirs.
NIB: couldnt get an online quote .
EBS will do it for 247e but only if youre existing customer.
Credit union, will be ringing later...

Does anyone know anywhere else to get a quote?
