Hi im just wondering what improvement could i expect on a C3 BER rating after external wall insulation on a cavity wall detached house...i know the benefits should be looked at as savings and more comfort but im just curious as to how the rating would change...

A lot will depend on the contractor and how good the work he does is. High B rating would be the minimum I'd want, but then again, how well is the house insulated in other places?

We got detached bungalow insulated with cavity wall insulation and additional attic insulation, with the help of the SEAI grant. BER before insulation was C3, and after, it just moved up to C2. . House built 2005. Probably doesn’t help that we have concrete floors with no insulation.

Not external wall insulation sorry, but just to give an idea of how much the BER can move. We switched to LED lighting, zoned our heating, added insulation to the attic and attic door, added PV solar and a battery, this took us from C3 to B1. 15 year old house.
