Benefits or drawback of Buying Irish Shares using AIB bank Acct.

Hi,
I am planning to buy some irish shares (say for 1k). I won't be doing regular trading. What are the benefits or drawbacks if I use my AIB account to buy the shares? Will I lose out more money in the transaction charges compared to other stock brokers. I think AIB share transaction is done through Goodbody brokers.
Any suggesstions welcome. I already looked at the share threads but I can't get the information.

for a 1k trade, it's not going to make much difference (and it is convenient and easy to use - I'll give them that)

Their 1.65% in-branch commission would make your eyes water a bit!

Actually thinking about it some more, Irish broker charges are scandalously high compared to other countries but I guess that's a debate for another thread....:(
