Being taxed too much?

Hi all,

I am completely clueless when it comes to taxes. I started a new job back in April and I get paid every two weeks. I think I am getting taxed too much. We dont have an accounts department as it is a small company I work for - payroll etc is outsourced to an accountant. Is there anyway I can check if I am being taxed too much, and ultimately paid too little?

Thank you,

L.

My salary is 26,000. I get paid 910 euro every fortnight. Does this seem correct?

Perhaps it is just wishful thinking on my part, feeling like I should be paid more....

Thanks,

L.

Running it though this:

Assuming you are single with default tax credits it gives net of €23676 versus your figure of €23660 (€910 x 26).

No, just going by what rmelly said....

That website will not open for me for some reason.

Your figures look more or less correct. www.taxcalc.eu says:

Weekly take home pay. (Single)
Selected Tax year is 2008
Gross Take Home Pay = € 500.0
Tax = € 29.615385
Take Home Pay after Tax = € 470.3846
Less PRSI = € 24.920002
Net take home pay = € 445.4646

Yearly take home pay. (Single)
Selected Tax year is 2008
Gross Take Home Pay = € 26000.0
Tax = € 1540.0
Take Home Pay after Tax = € 24460.0
Less PRSI = € 1295.8401
Net take home pay = € 23164.16

you can request a p21 balancing statement at end of year and that will sort out your tax if you have been paying too much or too little

Ah well. Guess I just need a higher paid job!

Thanks very much for all the help & advice.

L.
