Being sued. Free Legal aid?

i've got a solictors letter to do with a private transaction over a year ago, I was shocked to get the letter and think the person is just trying it on. the only thing is i've been back at college full-time for the past number of years and have no money to pay for a solictor never mind the amount this person is chasing me for. where do I stand can i get free legal aid?

As a student you should definitely give FLAC a call. They can advise you about the law and also about where/how to apply for legal aid.

They can advise you .... about where/how to apply for legal aid.

I can do this bit - Legal Aid Board - No idea of their qualification criteria, mind you.
