I recently installed a new bath and completely upgraded my bathroom. Since then every time I run the sink taps there is a loud gurgling sound from the sinkhole in the bath for some time afterwards.
Anyone kow what this is and more importantly can I get rid of it without having to "do major surgery"!
Sounds like the sink waste pipe is connected to the bath waste pipe (possibly on the stack outside the house) and you are getting some back suction. There is a little mushroom shaped vent that can be installed on the system to prevent this. It's important because if the water is sucked from the bath trap, sewer smells will invade your bathroom.
I think it's called an anti-siphon trap vent. I suppose you could install it yourself if you're handy, but personally I'd go with the plumber: you don't want to mess with sewer gases!
