Barrel Roof

Hi,

I'm on the first steps of building a new house and I'm looking into the possibility of using a barrel-shaped roof as an alternative to a dormer/ 1&1/2 storey house. Does anyone out there know anything on this, e.g. cost, difficulty of build, maintenance etc. thanks

This is a pretty rare design, so I'm not sure if someone here will have the knowledge you require. Have you an architect chosen at this stage? They may be the best source for this type of information.
