Barcelona day trips - advice?

Hi,
I will be travelling to a place near Barcelona for two weeks at the end of May, and was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations of where to shop, eat or any advice regarding Barcelona. I will probably be only for a few day trips to Barcelona as I am going to be staying approximately 50 minutes drive from it.

Make sure to go to Montserrat - fantastic place about an hour on the train.
