Barcelona and surrounding areas

Hi I am thinking of 10 days in the Barcelona area. We would like to spend 2 days in the city itself. Then we would like to go towards Girona and spend 4 nights in 2 places. I was thinking of Tossa de Mar for 4 days. What other place should we choose. We like to walking possibly some costal walks or some inland tracks 2 to 3 hours approx. We also like nice restaurants so a resort type nice town, with a little bit of nightlife not in to nightclubs but a choice of a few bars . We also like to hire bikes if the roads are quite and the place fairly flat. We will be flying into Barcelona and out from Girona and we want to travel on public transport to get around . Any ideas and tips welcome

Hi,
Cadaques on the coast is a really nice small quaint old Spanish town on the coast from here.
Depending on when you travel, the roads leading to it can be very heavy with traffic (Aug time) You drive through a natural reserve en route to it. Empuriabrava may also be worth visiting ??

Hi Coleen,
Have you been yet? Can get decent flights Knock to Girona and was looking at staying at a resort within a short hop from the airport. Any other suggestions to add to above? Thanks

Yes we have been. We went to Girona for two days which was lovely ,it had a nice old centre. We then went to Tossa de Mar which was a nice resort area with a beach area. We also spent a few day in Barcelona. Overall we enjoyed it and the area around Tossa de mar was nice with good local restaurants and well priced food and drinks.
