Hi there
As the title infers, I have been through bankruptcy in a foreign country. I unfortunately got crushed by 2008, did the best I could, but ultimately had to declare bankruptcy.
The bankruptcy has been fully discharged, but won't fall off my foreign credit score until 2025. I've turned my life around since then - got married and put some money away. Looking at returning to Ireland but am daunted by how mortgage lenders treat bankruptcy. My question is:
1. Is it better to wait to move until the bankruptcy is fully removed from my foreign credit score?
2. Do I need to declare a foreign bankruptcy when looking for a mortgage in Ireland?
Help and insight is appreciated. Thank you.
