Banking Statements + Mortgage

I recently closed down a bank account that I used for my day to day transactions for the last few years to move to another account. However, I now would like to apply for a mortgage. Do all the banks require 1 years statements from the account you use day to day? I also have a savings account, would a bank not take this in lieu of a current account history?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

It does vary, but I would expect banks would require 6 - 12 months of current account statements. But they might be happy if there is a reasonable amount of cash going into the savings account and staying there!

I only approached Ulster Bank said there was nothing they could do, I would just have to wait.

I recently applied to AIB and BOI and both only needed 6 months of statements

6 months statements are usually sufficient. In relation to the savings, the lender will need to be able to see this built up over a certain period. If the opening balance on the account statements is a large number then you may need to prove where this money came from.
