Bank of Ireland Mortgage Statement

I got my Bank of Ireland Mortgage statement in January 2024. It was incorrect. The statement said ‘First Unpaid DD’. This is not correct. I complained. My complaint was upheld, BoI apologised, but would not change the Statement, but instead offered me a letter to say it is Bank of Ireland’s mistake.
I want an accurate Mortgage Statement which I can use when my fixed rate ends and I am looking for the next best rate.
I escalated my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman. I reiterated, my request for an accurate Mortgage Statement. The Ombudsman’s Office has advised me it will take up to two years to get an adjudication.
Question: Do I have a right to an accurate Mortgage Statement?

Why would the letter attached to the statement not suffice? Letter states its their error, I assume its on BOI paper and signed?

If another lender wanted to query it, they'd just have to either check with BOI or check the credit register (only would show if it was outstanding after the end of the month.

I think you are causing your own grief for something that really is inconsequential

When' does your current fixed rates end? Any potential lender will want an up-to-date statement. The January statement is six months old.

BOI may not reissue you the January statement but requesting a current statement - coupled with your CCR report and the BOI letter - will clearly show there's no late payment/issues.

1) Check the Credit Register now to make sure that it is correct.

2) I don't think you need any complications with a potential new lender. So Bank of Ireland should issue you with a corrected statement. If their system cannot provide that, then that is their problem and they have to fix it.

You should send the correspondence to the Central Bank and cc it to Bank of Ireland. They will tell you that they do not deal with queries from individuals but they should take it up with BoI and tell them to fix the problem.

Dear Central Bank
I enclose the correspondence I have received from Bank of Ireland.
They acknowledge that the statement that they issued to me is incorrect but they are unable or unwilling to issue a revised statement.
It is very unlikely that this is a once off error affecting me only. It is likely to be a systemic error affecting thousands of customers, many of whom won't be aware of it until they apply for a mortgage elsewhere and are refused due to this error.
I would ask you to intervene and direct BoI to fix it for all affected customers, whether they have complained or not.

3) Absolutely complain to the Ombudsman. It is a simple complaint. And BoI might actually fix it rather than go to the expense of an Ombudsman complaint.
