I am over 66 and therefore an OAP.
AIB continue to charge me €25.39 each year as a 'Facility Fee'
When I queried this I was told that age does not exempt me from this charge.
My wife is same age and her account is with another bank who DO NOT charge her this 'Facility Fee'
My question .........Is there some law or Government directive about this?
Thanks in advance

Did you ask AIB to put you on the Advantage Account? This waives fees for people over 60 and they shouldn't charge you the facility fee.

See page 11

EDIT: I just seen on page 12 they do charge the facility fee for all accounts except Student and Graduate.

AIB and Bank of Ireland are the only two banks I know of that charge a facility fee for overdrafts. National Irish Bank do not nor does Ulster Bank.
