A diriect debit which should have finished last month was debited form my account last Tuesday. I called the company involved and was advised that "yes was taken in error and would be refunded to me " $ workin days later and still no refund. Seeing as a Bank to Bank transfer should only take 3 day , do you think its ok to make a fuss now. If it had been me who was late making a payment then I would be fined in some way , Why do banks feel free to take as long as they like to refund customers ???

Did a bank take the money in error or a company?

If it was a company how can you be sure that the money has been refunded?

Have you commuicated with your bank to ask if there is a repayment pending?

Have you cancelled the direct debit to make sure this doesn't happen any more?

Contact your bank in writing. They are obliged to make an IMMEDIATE refund to your account.

It is part of the Direct Debit Scheme rules.

Droileen is right - even though it is "prompt" payment and not "IMMEDIATE" - small point but might be important
