does anyone have idea what would typically be available under a section 4 access request to a bank. Did not receive any statements, voice calls and internal notes from staff etc

However bank has confirmed separately that statements can be requested at a fee of c. 3 euro per page.

Any advice ?

The bank is obliged to furnish you with everything they hold about you ( your data ) on hard copy ( paper ) along with transcripts of calls to their arrears handling unit ( if in arrears ) see section 63,64 CCMA 2013, a copy of all digital files relating to your data, whether held on hard drive or on portable data storage devices. All this information is available to you at 6.35 euro and not 3 euro a page. This is the law as it currently stands in Ireland. If you fail to get resolution with the bank within 40 days of your original data access request application ( keep copy ) then you can complain to tha Data Protection Commissioner. ( they will sort it out for you )
 

Statements of account that you've already been furnished with are hardly included in that though, surely!?
 
If they represent your data ( which they do ) then, yes they are included in the data access request. An individual would not be expected to have held onto statements from 6 years ago, but banks are required to hold mortgage statements from inception till 6 years after the mortgage has been repaid, defaulted, etc
 

So if I need my bank statements going back a couple of years, instead of asking specifically for them and paying the fee, I can just submit a data access request and get them for under a tenner??
 
Yes, but you will get a great deal more items of data than just the statements which you will have to sift through.

We are in the middle of getting data from UB about our mortgage. We put in a data request in May 2016. We have a main mortgage from 2006 still running and had a sub mortgage from 2007 which we paid off in 2011. We find they have most info on the main one but the sub is poor. We are on to them regularly to get our info. Finally they say another company have it.

How long should they hold onto our mortgage data?
 
Under the Consumer Protection Code 2012, they are obliged to retain records for six years from the date on which they ceased to provide you with any product or service.
