Baggage delay

I recently flew with airfrance from Dub to Biarritz with stopover in Paris. Air france lost my suitcase in Paris leaving me with no clothes for the 5 days of my holidays. My suitcase didn't actually arrive back to me until 19 days after it went missing. I was told at Biarritz when I arrived that I was entitled to 150eu compensation for the first day but I received no other information. At the Paris baggage claim the women mentioned that i should get another 50eu per day (of lost luggage or holiday loss i'm not sure)
Does anybody know what claim I am entitled to and if I have to provide receipts for everything I am claiming for?

Kittyjo,
I suggest you look at this site

...or contact them directly.
Coincidently, I heard Tina Leonard from the ECIC in Dublin participate on Matt Cooper's Last Word today in a discussion on the rights and wrongs of luggage lost by airlines. It is covered by the Montreal Convention. During the interview Ms Leonard pointed out that although many airlines demand receipts for every item being claimed for, legally receipts are not required.
The good thing about the ECIC is that they specialise in assisting in cross border disputes.
Hope this helps.

It's difficult to make any unified sense of what stated in OASIS and ECIC. The latter refers only to the Montreal Convention while OASIS refers in its main article to the Warsaw Convention and in its FAQs to the Montreal:-

"The airline lost / damaged my luggage, what can I do?
Should problems arise with your baggage, you should contact the airline immediately (before leaving the airport) and fill out a Property Irregularity Report; the reference number should be quoted on all further correspondence with the airline. You are covered under the Montreal Convention which states that the air carrier is liable for destruction, loss or damage to baggage for checked baggage.Under the Montreal Convention each air passenger can claim up to 1,000 "Special Drawing Rights" (approximately 1,200 Euro) for loss, destruction or delay of baggage. In the case of damage, the passenger has to make a written complaint within seven days from the date of the receipt of the luggage. In the case of lost luggage, checked baggage is considered lost if it has not arrived twenty-one days after the date on which it was due to arrive. If you cannot resolve the matter with the airline you may wish to consider taking the matter to the Small Claims Court."

Must be some way to clarify the situation?

Thanks folks for your help. I have followed all the proper procedures and airfrance have written back saying they want all receipts for my expenditure, even though I've mentioned the Montreal convention. The girl at said she would intervene on my behalf so hopefully I might get somewhere with their clout!
