Just purchased second-hand car. Car is great apart from bad radio receiption, is there any, reasonably cheap way to improve this? Was thinking of picking up an itrip for my ipod but is there much point if the car radio isn't getting a great receiption for radio stations, would the same apply to my ipod and itrip?

Re: Bad Reception Car Radio

depends on the car...it may have an aerial booster that's dead...

so, what kinda car is it ?

On those cars the radio head unit gave a little bit of trouble. It's not the top piece on the dash it's the tape deck part near the ash tray. Also the aerial use to brake from time to time inside, damaged by being so thin and long, they get kicked around a lot.

If you borrow an aerial from something and plug it into the back of the radio and you'll find out where the problem is.

You can buy the Aerial from Toyota or you can buy a stick on windscreen tyre from a motor factors. Either will do.

Poor reception on the radio won't affect the ipod.
