ive just found out that iv got accepted on a third level course,i am currently signing for credits,i was getting 10 euro jsa and 20 euro fuel allounce up until january when the budget changes took my partners means under the cut off point..will i get the btea payment or is there any other payments i can get other than the cost of education allowance
if i dont get a payment i wont be able to go back to school as i have childcare and travel expences to pay.

UPDATE got a letter from btea section 3 weeks ago telling me my application was successful after 2 weeks of waiting for payment i went to local welfare office only to be told i didnt qualify...where my letter clearly states i was successful.

forget to say in the first post our means were 2 euro 40 cent over the limit only
any info please

If you are signing for credits you will not get a BTEA payment (other than the cost of education allowance).

I'm guessing but perhaps the letter said you have been accepted onto BTEA scheme (which you appear to have been). That is different from receiving a weekly payment.

The way to have resovled this would have been to have your underlying JA claim reassessed to see if you could bring yourself under the limit again. Once you move on to the BTEA, I don't think they will entertain a reassessment of the underlying payment, but you could try.

The only other way to get a payment would be to notionally requalify for Jobseekers Benefit in the new year if the only reason you weren't getting JB was that you didn't have the required stamps in the relevant year. The relevant year changes in January (will then be assessed using 2010 as the relevant year) and if you then qualify for Jobseekers Benefit you can get a BTEA payment.

I'm not sure whether being on the BTEA scheme on a credits only basis precludes you from getting a maintenance grant. If you can't get a BTEA payment you should check this out.

i was on JSB from march 2009 to march 2010 then i went onto JSA till i was cut off because of the budget in jan 2011 i continued to sign till april
since then ive had trouble with the local office because they never changed me over to credits.. ive applied for the maintenance grant and was told i would only get 315 for the year!!!!!
