I have a nice collection of AVI files on my HD that I have made with my digital camera. Clips of family events etc. I would like to edit them and burn them on a DVD for playing on a regular DVD player.
Looked on the nero website but not sure if I could use Nero to do the editing and converting of the files to DVD format. I know it will burn stuff to DVD all right.
Does anyone know of software out there which would do all this without spending large sums on money??

I've used WinAVI Video Converter (US$30) in the past with success (they offer a trial version too). I see that they're offering a Beta for free download so you mightn't even have to shell out for it!
i would nt use nero as there are major sync problems with voice and picture.try convertxdvd.the downloadable version is free for 14 days after that u have to buy it.

For editing & DVD authoring I usually use either Ulead Videostudio or Intervideo WinDVD Creator - Both very simple to use - Free trials available online of both I expect. Nerovision (the video sister program to Nero) will burn AVIs I'm sure, but I've found it a bit fussy.
