AVG updating problem

I am trying to update my AVG but I keep getting the message that the update file is damaged and to use anotherfile. Any advice? I searched the forums and read what Clubman has had to say in the past about manually updating. I cannot find that function on AVg here - I'm probably just not looking in the right place.

Did you try again? I sometimes get that error or else cannot connect to the site and a retry later on works. With the previous version of AVG (6.x?) it was possible to manually download updates and then drop them into the AVG folder and have them picked up on restart. It looks like this [broken link removed] with 7.x but they don't recommend it for some reason.

It might be quickest to do a fresh download and reinstall.
I remember fixing some AVG updating problems that way once.

Tried several times last night to no avail but this p.m. it updated no problem. the wonders of technology!!
