Wondering if anyone can help me on what the average cost is for replacing a window. Nothing fancy, just a standard slider/crank out.
Looking at the installation cost only. This would include removal of the old window/debris along with any interior patch work and exterior detail work (trim, etc.).
I am thinking about getting some new windows and would like to hire someone myself to do the fitting. I am very picky and want everything done my way. Would buy the windows seperately.

Any info. would be helpful

Thanks,
Ewan

You do realise that you will pay top rate of VAT for the windows if you buy them supply only?

If you buy windows where supplier fits them you will be charged lower rate only.

Don't underestimate the workmanship of window installers ... they'll stand over their product if they install but may not if a third party installs them.

Agree with PaddyBloggit. Get a quote from any decent widow manufacturer who will have professional installers who are doing this work everyday and know their trade. Get them to measure your windows and let them know what you want. You will find that there will be little or nothing in the difference for supplying and fitting and supply only when the different vat rates are applied to each situation. If you have a problem afterwards you will have a one stop shop to go to with your complaint. The other method you could end up with one party blaming the other. Let your supplier/fitter know the standard you want beforehand and try not to be too intrusive on the day of fitting as it can annoy workers. Before they leave point out any problems within reason that you may have. Good luck with the job
