Does anyone know of a UK site similar to findapart.ie which gives an online db of cars which are being scrapped for spare parts. I am looking for a part for a Mazda6 which is proving difficult to find in Ireland.

What are you looking for - 2nd hand parts are hard to find, and the prices from the dealers are insane.

I've sourced most of what I needed from ebay from as_cars. He is always breaking alot of mazdas, and if you contact him he will usually put up whatever you are looking for.

Prices generally are reasonable. I got a steering rack (€1,100 + vat from the dealers!), delivered for about €100 from him.

No connection just picked up a water pump, tailgate rams, steering rack from him.

Try Traynors in Tyrone, they deliver to Dublin every Friday and are very helpful I found

Guys many thanks for the advice. Very much appreciated. I'm looking for the airbag sensor mat for the Mazda6 which is located directly underneath the passenger seat fabric. It's a common fault with Mazdas in that it can get damaged by a sharp object, coins or whatever and renders the airbag SRS system useless. Buying the part from a Mazda dealer is insanely expensive.

Hi Dave, I was in a similar situation 12 months ago looking for a new indicator/light stem for a renault, which was €250 inc VAT here from the main dealer

I used www.247spares.co.uk, filled in my details that I wanted a free quote from specialist breakers (get the EXACT part number, as there could be a number of versions as the mazda6 went through its lifecycle).
I was contacted by 2 different places within minutes. Called him up, he had a box of stems, found the right one, emailed me a pic to be absolutely sure - took my credit card, into a padded envelope and it arrved 2 or 3 days later ..... for £10 +£5 postage !
