Need to get a few photos of Austrailia to decorate the house - is there a good site where i could buy or download these? found a few but very expensve

Are you sure that you searched for Australia and not Austrailia?

Another alternative would be to try the stock photo galleries like iStockPhoto and ShutterStock. Or do it on the cheap and print out one of mine.
