Just thought I'd ask cheers lokke!

Importing animals requires money and reservations. There is only one quarantine facility in the Republic, and all cats and dogs must be quarantined there for 6 months.

Costs for room and board for 6 months vary depending on the size of the animal. Expect to spend €1400 for a cat, €1700 for a small dog, and €2300 for an extralarge dog. In addition, there is vet fee averaging €160, the actual amount again varying by the size of your pet. All these prices include VAT, the Irish sales tax. Here's a big saving: pay Lissen Hall before the animal arrives and get around a 10% discount.

Good detailed answer but is he not travelling the other way!

Australia, being completely anal about bringing something like an apple into the country, only requires 30 days quarantine for cats and dogs from Ireland...yet we require 6 months ?!
