Auctioneer not advertising house

Can anyone enlighten me as to why an auctioneer would put a sign up outside a house but not advertise the house either on his own website or on daft or myhome.ie. Two people have rung up about this house and the auctioneer has refused to tell them what the price is - it is an ordinary 3 bed-semi in West Dublin, further he has made no effort to arrange viewings, or to phone the people in question back, and arrange viewings. Is it that the owner is really not that interested in selling or is stalling, or is this house a possible repossession and that's why they are being so guarded. Friends don't want to waste time so any enlightening comments much appreciated.

I would guess its a disagreement between the vendor and EA, probably over advertising costs. EA does not want to waste time on the property until the possible problem is solved.

If your interested in the property, go around the EA. If there are people in the house, drop a note conveying your interest in the property and include your phone number. If its vacant just ask some of the neighbours what the story is or who owns it.
