hi, i had my house up for sale but took it off the market, my auctioneer has now told me he has lost my house keys, where do i stand, can i demand a change of locks.
hi green queen
not quite sure what you mean by whether he will pay me for them, i was going to demand he send a locksmith to change locks, unfortunately i am going on holiday saturday so i was checking to see if anyone was ever in same position
I dont see how he could not pay for your locks to be changed? And he should be doing it now.
Since estate agents have loads of keys do they not put the address on the keyring? So where ever he lost them someone could pick them up and just let themselves into your home.
Sorry for the late reply. Most auctioneers don't put addresses on the keyring. They put a numbered tag on the keyring and this corresponds to a number in a logbook which is entered against your address.
Loss of keys with a numbered tag is a bit different to loss of keys with an address on them as a numbered tag is only of use if the finder knows the corresponding address.
Yeah but most isn't all. Well if that is the case ( i didn't know it was just something i thought of ) then at least you dont have to worry about that.
How are you getting on? Have they agreed to pay for new locks for you?
hi, auctioneer has now found my keys after i demanded lock change, strange i know, but they are now back in my possession. if i decide to put house back on market def wont be using him again, thanks for all comments, found them very helpful
