Attic Conversions With Chimney

Is it possible to get a decent attic conversion with a chimney going up through the middle of the house? Is there more work involved and much more cost?

Hi scotgirl, welcome to AAM. A lot would depend on the remaining space in the attic. I presume moving the chimney is not an option, so what usable space is left? Is there enough head-height to walk either side of the chimney?

Might be an idea to get a couple of builders in to assess the area and see where stairs, etc., could be accomodated.

We are looking at doing this. What we plan to do is to put a stud wall across where the chimney is, and create two rooms. I don't know if this is an option for you.

It is possible - we did this and created an ensuite (small but still enough room for a shower/toilet/basin)
