Well, I grew up a few miles away and know it well....typical quiet country village with basic shops and pubs despite large Kepak factory closeby and creamery outlet.....not far to Roscommon (less than 10 mins, with good schools and most facilities you need) or Athlone (25 mins max, more schools and facilities, lots of employment, cinema, blah blah).....personally I'm not mad on it but its only a matter of taste....within 10 mins of Roscommon, places like Knockcroghery (I'm very biased here!) seem to have more going for them long term - close to Lough Ree, better roads and public transport connections, etc.
