Im not too sure if that's the right term - my parents who are elderly but mobile are living in a large rambling house thats difficult to keep, the majority of the house is unused and there have been a few accidents recently.
Is there the concept in Dublin of housing for the elderly where they can live independently but have access to security/assistance if necessary? I believe its quite popular in the states. We have a feeling if we could put this in place we would pre-empt the need for a nursing home in future. If something were to happen to one of them then the other could not stay on in the house and may end up in a nursing home or living with one of us when really they would be much happier being independent. Anybody know of such housing/concept?
