ok, so got invited to an assessment day with one of the big 4. it's a business test and then 2 interviews.

Anyone have any advice for me, from what to wear (suit or just look smart) to what the interviews might be about?

any help at all would be great!

Unless you've been specifically told otherwise, if you've two interviews then wear your best suit. It can only help your cause, especially if others are in casual gear.

As regards the interview, know your CV well. This is all the interviewer will have in front of them. Be prepared for any questions on it and conversations that may lead from it. Don't be afraid to lead a conversation, but don't appear aggressive either. Make sure you know what's going on in the business world at present. Read the business pages of the paper every day for a couple of weeks before it and also a magazine like Business Plus. You'll be able to work that into a conversation in any interview. Finally, know some facts about the company itself, why you want to go there and where you want to be in 5 years.

Good luck with it.

Keep up to date with current (business) affairs. Have a company that you 'admire' (go for someone other than Ryanair-too popular at this stage).

Business case will prob involve sitting around a table with others discussing a particular case study. Be assertive but also show yourself to be a good listener. If someone else makes a good point say something like " I think X made a very good point there" and then expand on it yourself. Do not come across as too agressive or pushy. In some of those cases there is a flipchart given to the group and someone from the group volunteers to write down the points on the flipchart and chair the dicussion. If you feel you can do this well, you will score very highly. Be quick to volunteer to do this as others there will also realise this.

Regarding the interviews these will be competency based interviews so they will be looking for examples of past behaviours i.e " Can you give me an example of a situation where you worked well as part of a team"; Can you give an example of a problem you solved". Have prepared plenty of examples before you go in. Also as someone else says have prepared answers on why you want to work there and why you want to do the job you are going for.

And absolutely wear your best suit, you are interviewing for a professional services firm after all. Good luck
