Assertiveness training

I was wondering if anyone could recommend something for assertiveness training. I suppose something that combines voice training as well. I have a monotone voice - action required. If anyone can recommend someone for this in the Dublin west - Naas area I would be grateful.

there should be assertiveness training courses all over the place - try the evening class guide (there's an online version but can't remember what it's called). They should describe what their emphasis is. The voice bit is part of general social skills which might be covered, but might not. You might just need to practice.......unless the monotone developed as part of shyness/lack of confidence, to hide what you really feel. All social skills including assertiveness are best learnt in group situations, rather than one-to-one. A drama coach may help with the voice otherwise.

Instead of assertiveness training, maybe consider something more all round like NLP?

Hi, Several years ago I did the one day Assertiveness course in this place. Found it quite helpful.

Before opting for any new age craic like NLP, read the Skeptic's Dictionary

Brendan, it was only a suggestion.

NLP can help with assertiveness. Yes of course it isn't perfect but nothing is.

But the Skeptic's Dictionary isnt perfect either

eg.

While I do not doubt that many people benefit from NLP training sessions, there seem to be several false or questionable assumptions upon which NLP is based. Their beliefs about the unconscious mind, hypnosis and the ability to influence people by appealing directly to the subconscious mind are unsubstantiated.

Well have you ever watched a Derren Brown TV show? He uses a lot of NLP techniques along with showmanship and mis-direction.

Anyway, this is going off topice an un-helpful to the OP

Cheers
Fintan
