asked to reapply for current job

Working in a sales job 10 years , everyone in our dept has been asked to do a test and interview for their current job , those deemed unsucessful at the interview or test will be made redundant, can this be done is this legal , surely if people have been doing the job for years with no issues
thay cant force you to go ? what laour relations websites are there, what advice can you give ?

My understanding is that only the job can be made redundant not the person.

Well I assume there are several people working in the same role, so in cutting the staff in that role they should be able to choose who they keep?
