Ask for a discount on the suit I'm buying?

Hey

I was wondering what you guys think of this...

I'm thinking of buying a suit for 550 (reduced from 600), and possibly a shirt for about 120 and a tie for 75. So about 800 in total.

It's possible I might just buy the suit...

My question is: is it normal to ask for a discount? Or would that be weird?

No - the worst that can happen is that they say "no".

I thought you were great in Magnolia by the way.

Don't worry - if you're paying €120 for a shirt and €75 for a tie, they have plenty of scope to give you a discount on the suit.

definately ask what is the best they can do. They'll often knock 10% off just by asking

take out a wad of cash as well. the site of notes, especially in smaller shops, will lend them to offering a discount.

I always ask for a discount. i was in a spar yesterday. i said to the chap behind the counter "how much for the mars bar?". "70c" he replies. "fair enough" I said. "I may be back later, I have a few more to look at".

If you're getting 8% off the suit I'd expect at least the same off the shirt and tie. In fact the tie is where they make the real money so you could even suggest they throw that in...doesn't cost anything to ask and the worst that can happen is they say no!
Can I just take this opportunity to say Vanilla Sky is one of my favourite movies...

That's what i did. And he kept saying to me if you need a new suit please come here, like 20 times. It was funny.
