As a "key worker" teacher guard nurse,would you expect to get an Aff Hse any sooner?

As a "key worker" teacher guard or nurse, would you expect to get a house on the AH scheme faster, I think it says they get a bit more lee-way... or would it be the case that you'd be waitin years like the rest of the minnions as such

Are there anyways to fast track up the list if you are a keyworker.. other that plaguing them

You have got to be kidding. Why should guards/nurses/teachers be considered to be more deserving of homes than other people?? Fortunately for the rest of us minions there is not fast-track to affordable housing for "keyworkers" .... you will just have to take your place in the queue like everyone else. Sorry to sound so grouchy - I just don't approve of the notion that some classes are more worthy than others - and good luck with your application

There is no such scheme in Ireland, although there is in London, NY and other cities. Wasn't there talk last week of a developer offering prime land to the Govt for such a scheme?

Do certain classes of worker (teachers, nurses etc.) get preferential treatment when applying for affordable housing?

Discussion of whether this is right or wrong can be kept for Letting Off Steam.

When you say "key workers", are you referring to locksmiths?

On a more serious note, I think it's ridiculous to assume that "key workers" as you
put it , are more deserving of an AH than all the rest of the "minnions".

I don't believe there is any system in place to fast track applications. However I
have heard stories of local politicians being able to pull strings in order to elevate
names on the list. Maybe this might be worth a try.

OP,

Unsurprisingly the scheme to which you refer does not exist. I am unaware of the possible introduction of any such scheme in the future!
 
In fairness to Krabik, the head of Dublin City's housing department is on record moaning that key workers have not been applying for affordable housing, so it's reasonable to suspect that some form of preference scheme might be in the pipeline.

But that just shows they are not even applying not that they are not getting the houses. Maybe these so called 'key workers' don't need to AH scheme as much as people think they do
