Hi, is anyone familiar with artist exemption - specifically script writing. Does a film / tv project have to be produced / completed for the exemption to apply?

You must apply to revenue to be registered on the artist exemption scheme. You can get an application form on the website. The as a registered artist your qualifying income is tax exempt.

Thanks, have done. Just needed clarity on this area as it differs between disciplines. For example, exemption for a book requires it to be published.

You must make sure that the exemption is done in the year that it is published. Citzen's information might be able to help you with advice.

Didn't want to start a new thread - I write a blog from which I earn a small sum from subscribers. Would this qualify for artist's exemption?

I doubt it, unless it maybe has some obvious and specific artistic/cultural merit, but you'd probably have to ask Revenue to be sure:

I was hoping it might, just as writing books etc would qualify. But I guess journalists who wrote don't get it. I guess I'll just ask them
