Article scanned at lower price than on price lable.

I went to buy a coat that scanned at at much lower price than the price lable , at the desk it scanned as a different article that been a jumper,

Am I entitled to the lower scan price, the cashier said that I was not entitled to the lower price as they were aware of it so they should just scan in at the higher price and correct article.

What are my rights, I thought I should get it at the scanned price.
 
Nope, you're not entitled to the lower price. My limited understanding of consumer law is that the price sticker is an invitation to treat, ie an indication by the shop that they are willing to offer the goods for sale. You then make an offer to buy the goods. However the shop on this occasion refused to accept your offer as the price was an obvious mistake, seeing as the article scanned as a jumper. They can then counter offer with the correct price.

On some occasions there could be an issue with misleading the consumer with incorrect prices, but this just sounds like a genuine mistake
