Posted a query about this topic some months ago where I was looking for reading material on the "that" John Franklin expidition. I eneded up buying a book: "The Arctic Grail: The Quest for the Northwest Passage and The North Pole, 1818-1909", which has a bit more than the Franklin expedition, the reviews are very, very good.

Well, I read this baby, and it is a very good book. It is not however the place to get the detail on JF, because it is, as the title says, about the "The Quest for the Northwest Passage and The North Pole, 1818-1909". Man, but there were a lot of mad people around in those days. There is detail about dozens of expeditions, and it can get a bit confusing at times (or more correctly, I got a bit confused at times). It is full of good stuff, and like all good books, the best stuff is at the end.
