Around the World Trip

My sister and her boyfriend are interested in an around the world trip before they get married and settle down. The question is where is the best place to book this. They are looking at visiting as many countries as possible so not sure if this can be booked online. Anyway any suggestions gratefully received.

I did this myself a few years ago. I recommend that they contact Collette Pearson in Maxwell Travel, Hawkins St Dublin.

Ring Trailfinders
They are specialists in this type of thing.

Re: round the world

Why don't they do it themselves. What countries do they want to visit? They could ask AAM posters for advice.
I would love to do this myself but wouldn't know where to start! Any suggestions anyone?

Re: round the world

I always believe in booking yourself on the internet. But I think for something like this you should deffo go to trailfinders.

Price will be about 1500-1600 and include o good few countries. You choose your way around the world. The limit is not to fly more than 30,000 miles.

Here is a sample of what they offer

Dublin - Delhi - surface - Mumbai - Singapore - Hanoi - surface - Ho Chi Minh City - Sydney - Christchurch - surface - Auckland - The Cook Islands - Tahiti - Los Angeles - surface - San Fransisco - Dublin

from €1537 inc taxes and charges*+

Re: round the world

Agree with Decbuck on this one ... for Point to Point bookings there's not always that much point in using a travel agent (especially as it usually costs more)

However for something such as this .. definintely go to a good agency such as trailfinders as there are so many options etc. that only a good specialist agent is going to be able to help you.

Do have an idea about where you would like to go en route before you go in ... dont just go into them and say "I want to go round the world" .. or if you do do that you've not right to complain afterwards if you don't like the places ! ... Do a bit of homework on desired intinerary first... then go see what fares you can get.

Re: round the world

BOME a travel agent with experience in this area can get you a better deal than a direct internet booking on a RTW trip. There are lots of options and restrictions on RTW travel and internet sites simply cannot cover all that is available. If you want to get an idea of the type of deals available you should check out the Boots & All web site www.bootsnall.com and their RTW newsletter. Use their trip planer and then take it to a travel agent (such as the one I recommended above) to get a quotation.
